Icecream tail leaned forward into a stretch, and parted her jaws into a yawn. She pulled in her back legs, and let out a shudder. Her long white fur shook and she took a seat. She quickly licked the side of her flank, near her heart marking, and moved to her tail. She licked down to the tip of her tail, noting the sweet taste.
She looked up, and silently admired the scenery. She loved her environment, and although she saw it everyday it never got old. Despite it's vacancy, the carnival had a very upbeat feel to it. The crowds were minimal, but it didn't lack in color. All around her were splashes of bright colors, stripes and swirls. Bright, cotton candy pink and pure white, and every other color. Every color of the spectrum was here, bold and proud. She glanced up at the sky, her lips parting slightly. She stared into the darkening sky, and looked back at the buildings. The lights would be turning on soon, she loved that.
Quiet and agile, she made her way towards the ferris wheel. All the carnies here knew her, and would often throw pieces of food to her. Cotton candy was her favorite. Her body was strange, it required much more sugar than that of a normal cat. That's why living in a carnival suited her well.
She paused in front of the ferris wheel, and looked up. The lights were now on, illuminating through the dark world. She smiled, and jumped onto a cart. There was no line, which was normal. Not many people visited this bright and bubbly carnival anymore.
To most, that thought would be sad. But not to the white kitten that sat in the elevating cart, she much preffered the emptiness. Too many people led to trouble. She liked having a few people, though. With their small children with gentle hands..they were always fascinated by her and her markings. She had a tendency to flaunt them when there were children around, because they didn't scare her like the adults did.
Finally, the ferris wheel came to a gentle halt at the top. She put her paws up on the edge and peered over it. The cool, night breeze gently ruffled her fur and she blinked, staring at the atmosphere. She could see the dark forest, the one she never dared to go in. She didn't know why, she wasn't a fearful cat. She just had no interest, it seemed so dull and drab compared to the carnival she lived in. She tilted her head slightly. Why not a little adventure? She batted her bright bubble gum eyes, and waited patiently as the ferris wheel cart slowly made it's way to the earthy ground.
Her petite paws gently landed onto the paved floor, and she lifted her head to the sky. The sky was speckled with a few gleaming specks, and the moon was now more visable. She tore her eyes away from the sky, and broke into a sprint. The world around her was a blur of color, but quickly faded. She paused, and took one last glance at the carnival. I'll be back! She said silently, as if it had a soul. To her, it did. It was her soul.
The forest was dark, but very alive. New and natural sounds filled her ears. She took in the earthy scents and the atmosphere was interesting for a change. She sniffed the air, out of curiosity. She blinked slowly, and lowered her head. Candy? An intense sweet smell was coming from one of the trees. She walked towards it, and sniffed it.
It was hollowed out, it was empty and black. However, the smell lured her in. It was much bigger than she imagined, it stretched on and on. She felt something change, but she couldn't tell exactly what it was. The ground felt softer, the smell stronger. She saw a light. She ran towards it, and suddenly
everything was different. The clouds where candy colored and everything, everything was bright and happy. Icecream tail's mouth turned upward in a bright smile, and she dashed around, sniffing everything. She dropped down and rolled in the lovely, soft grass and paused for a moment. Who lived here? Was it a threat? She sat up, and looked around. Where had she come from again? The thought instantly evaporated as she smelled cookies, and ran in the direction of the smell.
